FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHILE LOOKING FOR A JOB

FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHILE LOOKING FOR A JOB

For most of us, the default reason for seeking a job is the salary. But there is much more to consider while seeking a job change.

“Never continue in a job you don’t enjoy. If you are happy in what you are doing, you’ll like yourself, you’ll have inner peace. And if you have that, along with physical health, you’ll have more success than you could possibly have imagined.” —Roger Caras

Even before thinking about applying for a job opening or changing your career, you may need to ponder over the following options that provide job satisfaction and ensure happy days at work.

1. It adds Value to Life

Think about the positive changes that the job can bring about in your life. It should also positively impact the organization and contribute to society. You should be able to create improvements in the job and derive happiness, knowing that you have made it much better than before in a way that it genuinely helps people.

2. You will enjoy working with your team

At work you will be interacting with people a lot. Make sure you are in a team where you are accepted and supported. It will help in making decisions if you know who you will be working with and whether you can get along well.

3. Trust

It is great to know that you are not being monitored all the time and if you have taken responsibility of doing a task, you have complete freedom to do it.

4. You will be appreciated and valued

Appreciation goes a long way; makes you feel great and positively encourages you to achieve more. This can be a simple thank-you or respect from other team members or even unexpected gifts.

5. Find something you love to do

There is a saying “Find a job that you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”.
Every bit of it is true! Your job should not be determined by money alone. If you are truly motivated with your job, it will ensure that your happiness is followed by the pay it deserves.

6. It suits your personality

Each one of us is unique and have a personality that thrives in a specific environment. Some enjoy working with people, others enjoy completing tasks. Some like making decisions, others do not.
Find a job that fits your personality.

7. It challenges you

A job that makes you better and hones your skills through challenging assignments, learning opportunities, demands excellence will pave the way for evolution of a better you and thereby a better company. Select a job that will motivate you to push beyond your current abilities.

8. Integrity

We all have core values.
No matter what you do, however important it may seem or how much ever you may be paid… At the end of the day, your integrity is what matters the most. If you feel you are compromising on your core values and you find yourself in a job that requires you to overlook or ignore your personal convictions, then you don’t need to be there, nor should you be there.

9. Culture

Look for a job with a flexible results-oriented culture.
It should allow you to successfully complete your job with excellence than simply clocking in a set amount of work hours during a specified time of the day.

10. Family

You value your family. Your job should too.

Work is fun when you love it.
Ensure that it is not too demanding and allows you to enjoy your life outside of work too.

Finally, when you look back, you should be able to smile with satisfaction knowing that the job you loved and the betterment you had created has evolved into a contribution that continues to benefit people with positivity and excellence.
